Apple Brownies

Saturday we went to the orchard again for the second time. We got another bushel of apples. The first thing we made with them was apple brownies. I found this wonderful recipe and it is absolutely scrumptious. It seems to be pretty frugal as well. I left out the nuts because we didn't have any and I used half whole wheat flour and half all purpose flour. It was a big hit at our house. Epically warmed with vanilla ice-cream on top.

Apple Brownies
1 stick margarine
1 egg, beaten
1 cup sugar
3 medium apples, diced small
1 cup sifted plain flour
½ tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. baking powder
¼ tsp. salt
½ tsp. cinnamon
½ cup chopped nuts

Cream butter. Add egg and sugar. Stir in chopped apples and nuts. Add other ingredients. Pour into buttered pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.
